We all know the phrase, “Don’t burn the candle at both ends.”
We know (but often don’t listen to) the idea of burnout. We overdo ourselves and then it either takes twice as long to recharge, or we spiral into a negative spin and just don’t want to go there again.
Sustainable Pace is about managing our energy long-term, and our wellness and happiness.
Sustainable Pace is how we can stay in the ‘flow zone’ for creativity and collaboration.
Sustainable Pace is a huge part of creating a Culture of Joy at work as it offers respect to the team members that need sleep and the work-life balance.
Sustainable Pace ensures a constant level of engagement from the team and yourself which has big payoffs in what you do for the long term.
Sustainable Pace can be created either with a short burst of energy followed by a rest time for reflection, recharge, and recognition (R3) of the job well done. Likewise, it can be a constant pace (without the breaks), but some research shows that can be too monotonous… and we really need that time for R3.
Managing our own Deep Joy means knowing how to manage our Sustainable Pace.
Being a leader in the workplace means ensuring that we create a Sustainable Pace there… it’s the highest-generating mode of operation for the long term.
